Collective Fear

Collective Fear

A Poem by Jill Terry

I feared the words
He spoke were truth

Of me
About me
In spite of me

Because
He knew me

Because
I let him

Because
I wanted him to

Like none other
Before or after

Deeper
Better

To the core

Then left to wonder
If he knew me
At all

Quite an insightful poem. We let people into our lives, tell them our little secrets and insecurities and then later when things go bad, they might use them against us. But there is more to your poem. There is tells and then there is knowing...he was told those insecurities and trusts, but then by abusing them he showed that trust was betrayed, so how much could he have known you to betray you so? But we have to take those chances, without them no meaningful relationship can ever be built. I truly enjoyed your poem.
