Prologue

Prologue

A Chapter by Ja Strangelyn

He had longed to be king for quite some time.

As he sat on his steel throne, he contemplated on how he became the ruler of all things Unnatural. Supernatural. Non-human. Evil, you might call them, but they were his people: daemons, vampires, fallen angels, and other things that went bump in the night. Not demons though; those were on a whole new domain that could not be ruled. It had been his desire as he clawed and bit his way to the top, using his brute force and brilliant mind to overpower his previous ruthless ruler. Literally climbing up the chair with which he sat upon with bloodied fingers and gashed hands. He squeezed the arms of his ruling seat, the metal cool against his always hot skin that had been healed but still riddled with the scars of battle.

The shadows slowly gathered around him as did his subjects. His multicolored eyes shifted to black across the sclera while he smirked, leisurely, his ragged lips widening over his white teeth. Vadrohn was his. It was all his and he was destined and determined not to let her go. The city for which he fought so hard for, where the Unnatural dwelled, where he was ridiculed for what he was, was under his control. The place where he suffered the most and loved the least had now become his to do with what he willed.

The darkness of the shadows crept up around his throne and his face, encasing his being in the depths of the gloom that was his power. Two silver rings adorned his right eyebrow, jingling with his movements. Meanwhile, his beast longed to be shredded of its skin, wanting to be free and reign over the land with its might. He would not allow that. He was too dangerous. His bloodline was something of nightmares, never having before been seen by any eyes. And here he sat, watching those he despised burn before his black eyes, the lights reflecting in those bottomless orbs.

And he threw his head back and laughed.

The opening has me, it has as great deal of impact. The words pull
the reader forward, drawing the reader into your realm. I appreciate the
craftsmanship you have exhibited here. You have a great handle on the
english language. If the prologue is anything like the rest of book.

My lady, allow me to vanquish the pain to allow you to carry on in this endeavour.
It is very good.

Well thank you! And I will try to continue writing in the same sense!
Normally I'm not a fan of prologues but this one is definitely an exception. I can't really find much to critize. You give the reader information without dumping it at him and you make him want to find out more about the world where it is set and the backstory. I look forward to reading more from you.
