Infinite Possibilities

Infinite Possibilities

A Poem by Jasper
"

The grass is always greener....so we think....

"

Amongst stalks of golden corn, gently swaying like lovers embraced in a last dance

As the dusky light of evening dwindles behind red tinged clouds

Gathering over the grey of the ocean far below

Filling tomorrow with promise

Of infinite possibility, given the courage to swim.

To plunge from cliffs, breaking water so effortlessly

Without any spray of a clumsy dive

Currents tug the clothes from your body as you glide the depths, free

Immersed in the comfort of home.

Just to be...

No barriers to scale

No bridges to cross

No mountains to climb

Just swim to any shore you can imagine

Palm fringed gently sloping beaches of whitest crushed coral beneath an expanse of blue, or

Steeply shelving pebble shoreline, wind whipped white crests and grey thunderous clouds, or

Barren sun-bleached cliff with isolated shrub or bush clinging to its face as water laps its base.

Forget the world above, the dry earth and parching sun and revel in the cool depths of life sustaining water.

Amongst a garden of coral, gently swaying like lovers embraced in a last dance

As the watery light of evening filters in bands through waves and currents

Cast down from far above, filling tomorrow with promise

Of infinite possibility given the courage to fly.

To soar up through the surface, breaking water so effortlessly

Without the spray of a clumsy leap

Feathers cover your body, rippling in the wind as upwards you glide, free

Surrounded by the comforts of home.

Just to be...

No rivers to cross

No seas to circumnavigate

No oceans to tame

Just fly to any point on the globe

Nest atop mountainous ranges in the lap of Gods, or

Within the canopy of great forests spanning continents, or

Under ancient weather beaten gables built by human hands.

Forget the world below, dry earth or choking watery expanse and revel in the cool heights of life sustaining air, or must we just lie

Amongst stalks of golden corn, gently swaying like lovers embraced in a last dance

I gaze above to the sky, see birds glide and soar in breathtaking blue

I gaze down to the ocean, see dolphins glide and soar in darkening grey

I reach down, take earth in my hand and sprinkle it to the wind…
