Mississippi Beggar

Mississippi Beggar

A Poem by Kenneth Stephen Goodpaster

Mississippi River wash the blood from my hands
For I have taken what is yours.
So if I am to repent for the Promised Land,
I beg forgiveness  for the years

For I am a sinner, a liar, a killer
And even a beggar
