A Better Lullaby

A Better Lullaby

A Poem by Kenneth Stephen Goodpaster

A Better Lullaby

Hush little angel, you don't need a mockingbird

For Daddy will always sing for you

And a diamond ring for you would be quite absurd

For Daddy's eyes will always shine for you

If you want a looking glass my little one,

Then daddy will always show you inner beauty.

If you want a puppy, I promise to have one

For a puppy can love you almost as much

Now hush my little angel don't say a word,

You and I are more precious than a mockingbird.
