Little Girl

Little Girl

A Poem by Kenneth Stephen Goodpaster

Little Girl

Little girl picks flowers for her daddy
holding close to her favorite teddy bear
Brings a smile to my face and tears to my eyes
Catching this weary heart by surprise.

Just like a river cutting through a canyon
And the medal of a champion,
A little girl can move this grown man's heart
And take his pride and strength apart.

A man bruised and beaten, never broken,
And never once been outspoken
Will always surrender his firm will
For the happiness of a little girl.
