Unmerciful Love

Unmerciful Love

A Poem by Kenneth Stephen Goodpaster

Unmerciful Love

She can break your heart of gold

And she can love so fickle.

She can speak her words so cold

And hurt you with so little.

She can take your breath away

And she can leave you stranded.

She can run or hide away

And lie to you red-handed.

She can say that she hates you

And have a heart made of stone

When she means that she loves you

And that she fears the unknown.

But, she cannot get rid of

This feeling we all call love.
