When my eyes are shut I don’t hurt so much,
Always a step closer to an escape,
Yet, always so far away from death’s touch,
To silently suffer within red tape

Suffering within red tape...there is so much of that going around as of late. I like the way that you wrote this piece, it is simple and concise; straight to the paradoxical point, as it were. The first line is the strongest in my opinion, but because it is so absolutely honest.
