A BuckA Poem by Kenneth Stephen GoodpasterInspired by a close friendUpon a barren wood I seek isolation As the sun veils itself in cloudy skies That produce thunder without cessation To inflict upon myself crude chastise. But nature seldom prove desolate For my company be joint with a buck, Whose demeanor be benevolent And mind void of hopeless guck. In my misery I desire to wallow, I ask of you dear Buck, do depart For I deserve not your sorrow For splendor and rubbish stay apart. I can present you with naught! Why is it by my side, you squat?
