Sail The Seas Of Confusion To Liberty

Sail The Seas Of Confusion To Liberty

A Poem by JC

The day to day

Will chip at you slowly,

Lap at you like the tides

Smoothing out the erosion

Of time,

You don’t notice until

It’s too late.

One day you are

Happy and oblivious,

The next you are

Mad with thought and reality.

That’s when you start

Finding it harder and harder

To get out of bed each day

To face your bondage.

If you’re not careful

The tides will catch you

Off guard and swallow

You whole,

Reach out and grab you

Like a liquid glove

Then drown you in

Your own mind.

There is nothing more dangerous

Than the delicate wiring

Sparking and flashing in the

Ivory confines of your skull.

Your eyes,

Those two shining orbs

Of perception playing a

Game of illusion and deception

On the grey matter add to the confusion.

Jump into that confusion and

Wrap your arms around it,

Kiss it with tongue and f**k it

Raw and real,

Beat it with your fists and

Step on its throat because

There is something worse

Than being lost in unknowing

And desire.

Apathy,

A stubborn inexorable ignorance

Is death.

Oh!..I could write words and words on this..this is so so good Jason,i am surprised this has no reviews!!!..I don't know where to begin, but i will do what i love most that is to break this poem down into lines and explore cause this deserves so..
'smoothing out the erosion of time'..is that possible?..perhaps yes..perhaps no..but oh then you said smoothing out and not erasure of the damage time has done.Perhaps self reflection can do it.
One day you are
Happy and oblivious,
The next you are
Mad with thought and reality.I know this...i just know how this feels..to be happy and oblivious almost bordering on innocent complacency and then mad with thought and reality the next..
'to get out of bed each day, find your bondage'..*nods my head,i know that too..:)
If you’re not careful

The tides will catch you

Off guard and swallow

You whole,

Reach out and grab you

Like a liquid glove

Then drown you in

Your own mind...i simply love how from this stanza onwards this poem becomes so very hard hitting..i have felt how the thoughts can become a strong tide and swallow me in whole.,then drown me in my mind.
I adore..'ivory confines of your skull'..and how you related it to eyes and how what we perceive and what actually is might not be what the truth is.I believe what i see,but it may not be the truth at all.Cause we can not forget what we see..hence even the falsehood of it haunts us.
Your second last stanza is very very strong..'there is something worse than being lost in unknowing'...i am a bit confused about,Apathy,
A stubborn inexorable ignorance
Is death.
I guess it has to do with the way you have broken the lines here..
but all in all this was a very strong piece and challenges as to is it it fine to be ignorant and feel safe in its confines.I got goosebumps while reading this :)
