This Room And You

This Room And You

A Poem by JC

if you ever knew

how truly alone

I was,

surrounded by an

ever increasing clutter

of empty beer cans

and fruit flies,

you might think twice...

I wake up thinking

it's late enough

to start drinking,

because what else

do I have?

Some poetry

some longing

and a few photographs

to keep me company

and sate these desires

I have for you...

I've had blurred nights

and crossed blurred lines

shouting into the night

then sitting in a filthy alley

exhausted with not a soul

to seek comfort from...

I curse gods

I curse all

and everything

that keeps the

most amazing person

out of reach...

you want to fill this room with smoke

with music and philosophy,

just open the door,

I implore you,

it will pour out like a

smashed fish tank,

then come inside

in here with me,

shut the door

and let the room fill anew,

let us drown in all that is you and I.

This is an exceptionally heart rending, really wonderful poem -- it captures loneliness, addiction, depression and unrequited love all at once. I am glad I paused in the feed.

The honesty is heartbreaking. We've all felt it and lived it, if only for a moment. - Liz

"it will pour out like a smashed fish tank"... if only.

The words are familiar and honest enough. You teeter near, but avoid cliche' brilliantly. You took a scenario that anyone who has drank too much over can easily understand. The desperation, the hopelessness, and the improbable dream breathe on their own.

Flooding the reader with emotion....this write is ripe with the ability to relate the pain the author is feeling....as well as the love. Exceptional ink.

JC, this had me from the first stanza. Evocative and raw, the emotions you've conveyed here I've felt, too. The last stanza struck a chord with me, perhaps a memory, but I feel like I've read a piece of my own journey through your words. You have an uncluttered, linear way of reaching into someone's heart and soul, and I certainly appreciate it.

man, too much, thank you. looking forward to reading you more
JC your writing always comes from somewhere deep inside you and it snags your reader, and pulls them in to your emotions. Just when we think it's straight forward with you pouring emotions, like it comes rushing through a beer bong, you get creative an throw in the exploding fish tank. (had that one happen luckily while cleaning outside)

I think I connect with your work, because its all the things you'd like to say aloud, strung down the page in whatever way you wish or whatever is in your head at the moment. Most of mine is much the same, but I's sure you realized that.

Haven't been reviewing much lately, but I'm glad I dropped by and read this.
