ASPHYXIATED

WHEN YOU THOUGHT I WAS DEAD

I WAS ONLY TAKING A NAP

WHEN YOU THOUGHT I WAS GONE

YOU WATCHED ME CASUALLY STROLL BACK

WHEN YOU THOUGHT I HAD THE KEY

YOU FINALLY SAW IT WAS FAKE

WHEN YOU THOUGHT I GAVE TOO MUCH

YOU FOUND THAT I ONLY TAKE

YOU SHOULD TRY AND UNDERSTAND

I AM NOT WHO I AM

YOU SHOULD GET OUT WHILE YOU CAN

OR GET WRAPPED IN PLASTIC MAN

WHEN YOU THOUGHT THAT YOU WERE SAFE

I HAD TO MELT YOUR FACE

WHEN YOU THOUGHT YOU CARED TOO MUCH

I MADE APATHY TAKE ITS PLACE

WHEN YOU THOUGHT I WAS LAUGHING WITH YOU

I SAW YOU AS THE CLOWN

WHEN YOU THOUGHT YOU WERE ASCENDING

I WAS SLOWLY BREAKING YOU DOWN

YOU SHOULD TRY AND UNDERSTAND

I AM NOT WHO I AM

YOU SHOULD GET OUT WHILE YOU CAN

OR GET WRAPPED IN PLASTIC MAN

WHEN YOU THOUGHT THIS COULDN’T HAPPEN

IT WENT AND IT DID

AND WHEN YOU THOUGHT YOU WERE SO STRONG

YOU WERE A BABY IN ITS CRIB

WRAPPED IN ME

the imagery in this piece hollers upon the reader from the outset. the use of bold capitalization provides an urgency to the subject matter. this piece has an ample rhyme scheme, and its use of contrasts makes it an interesting read. good work, and welcome to this site.
