It was the same as any other cold winter morning. The alarm goes off with a loud buzzing at 4:30 am. Layla throned the covers off her body, rubbing her eyes as she got out of bed. Taking a moment to glance over to empty pillow next to her. Out of habit she guessed. It still seemed unreal he wasn't there, laying on his stomach with his right arm outstretched to her side. She quickly dismissed the thought "I can't do this not today," she thought. Turning away, making her way to the bathroom. As she grabs her tooth brush and the Ultra bright toothpaste, she looks up in the mirror The sadness was really starting to show "God I've really let my self go " she said to her reflection. All while touching the Winkles that have took form in the corner of her eyes. Sigh. She shake her head and goes on brushing her teeth. Walking out of the bathroom turning of the light she looks at the clock. "Better get forest up first" Layla says to her self. Knowing how hard he was to wake. Pepper always seem ready to get up and go. Forest was like his father when it came to sleeping and waking up. As she walked to his semi-dark room. The only light that glowing was his batman nightlight shining. Giving the room a comfortable, warmth glow and since of peace. Layla takes a moment to just watch her son sleep. Thinking to herself "6 years old." Shaking her head. It just seems like yesterday he was a baby. And to think pepper, was now 5 years old. How they grow up ever so fast so fast. Forest was on his back covers throw to the side. Watching his chest rise then fall. A smile comes across her face, Thinking how much she loved her sons. Walking to the side of his bed on the was stepping on a Lego "Ugh f**k" whispering in a hiss. Her foot now being to throb, like her heart. "Forest sweety wake up" Forests only grunt as he rolls over to his stomach. "Come on now forest, we don't have time to do this. I have to get you and your brother to school today." Layla said slightly irritated. "I'm not going'' forest mumbles "What did you say forest" Layla now bending down to seat next to her son. Stroking his head gentle "Sweety I know you don't want to go but you have to get out of this bed" "NO" forest screams now starting to cry "You don't even act ifs you care dads gone" said Forest. Tear streaming down his face "Sweety" says Layla offend and hurt fulls her voice. "I miss your father more then you know." Layla sighs. "Forest I loved your father you know that but, I have to stay strong for you and pepper. It is not that i don't miss him. Or that I didn't love him." Forest only stare, feeling bad now for yelling at his mother. Forest gets up and scoots to his mother. Reaching his small hand out to wipe away the tears. "I sorry mommy, I miss him so much." Layla then grabs forest. "So do I sweet. So do I."Rocking him on her lap. Layla wiped forest tears off his cheeks. "How about we get Pepper up, and I make you some hot apple juice " Forest smiles. " like daddy?" "Yes" Layla said smiling now They get up, heading out of his room. "Oh forest next time please put all of your legos up." They just smile at one another then. © 2016 Jasmine |
