The Odyssey of a River

The Odyssey of a River

A Poem by StruckByLightning
"

I wrote this poems as an "inspirer" to pick you up if you are feeling down. It is to remind you that everyone can have the strength of a river.

"
The river silently flows
across hills, plains, and mountains.
A forlorn journey toward the sea
as the blue blood of the land.
It must have tripped over
ten million boulders,
yet it chuckles
and races on
without another thought.
It must have stumbled over
a hundred thousand waterfalls,
yet it picks itself up
from the ground
and continues onward to the sea.
But once it reaches the
safety of its haven,
it will not pause
for a single breath.
Instead it leaps back
to the start
and restarts its voyage again.
Now what surprises me
most is how the river
with its countless suffers
and errors can still
find the strength
to go on.

I must say that your poem as served its purpose. Very motivational!
Great use of the river here. I do recommend you to try adding more imagery to add to the poem's beauty.
And consider stanzas too. They might help. Regardless, I really enjoyed this poem.

The last lines from " Now what surprises me..... to go on" is really incredible!! Well thought of and very well done.

loved the poem, but you might want to go into the details and add some descriptive words to make the poem really come to life. but overall it was a great poem and portrayed the message very well

I so wonder the same thing...how do we continue on when we trip, stumble, fall or loose our way. This was very uplifting and extremely inspiring for me...I LOVED IT :) Strength is an amazing force to behold in any form it chooses.

This was beautiful. I absolutely loved it. It sounds like a metaphor, telling you to pick yourself up despite the troubles you might face. This is truly a work of art.

Beautiful, inspiring, you definitely captured the similar nature of the flowing of a river and those last 6 lines...all too true. One does wonder how simple it is for a river to pick up and carry on, yet so hard for people like us to find that same strength. Great write.

Somehow I related this poem to they way humans live... Hit by one disaster, but end up picking up the pieces later on. I also love the imagery of the river and the emotions carried with it.
It was a great read. Good job!

Another good piece of writing. You made me see and feel the river. (Just one thought: I have never seen a river flow across a hill. Around, through, yes... just not across. Smiling.) Still a good write.
