High

High

A Poem by Connor Jarvis

When I became discontent I escaped
I looked at her plastered smile and accepted the empty solution that offered a moment's bliss.
We were always in the sky
You rarely caught us on the ground
We were accepted and loved in sky while we basked in the embrace of temporary false hope
Though the fall was tragic and horrifying every time
It was inevitable just like death
It was on the ground, we felt empty
If we focused and tinkered on the ground we wouldn't need to go up into the sky
Pessimism and the cynical mind state overwhelmed us while grounded
So we were never all there while on the ground
We had no chance
Same goes while in the sky
I took what the plastered smile offered me
Id escape from the ground into the sky
But was what was up there really an answer
I cried a bit
I smiled
Id soon be in the sky on my way to forgetting this horrid conclusion
