Drifting

Drifting

A Poem by JRB
"

Reaching for that life vest of hope

"

Underwater or above
When sadness invades the soul
Both feel like
A drowning

Floating
In a sea of confusion
Seeking the life vest
Of desires not meant

Under the influence
Of ignorance
Darkness
Is often inviting
An alerting concept
Of reality

Shadowed in the light
That makes one fear
Yet go near
Instead of away
A pleasure
Of a puzzling delight

Darkness is often inviting, yes! Especially in your most desperate and ignorant moments.

Wonderful imagery over all, you captured the depressed mind perfectly!

I love this. Its a very accurate description of depression.

really enjoyed this one - i think your tone of sadness is conveyed in a very apt way and i liked the structure; simply displayed for a less then simple poem that doesn't detract from the meaning.x

Floating in a purgatory of heartbreak. Words made heavy by fear and confusion. This is a very dark.....yet illuminating piece of work.
Brilliant if you ask me.

If anyone summed up depression more eloquently than this, I don't know of it. I know what it is to live this way, and that you have written it in such a simplified and beautifully pensive form is really encouraging to me. The threat of depression is lonliness, all of us living isolating in our own singular universe. You've touched on a powerful emotion here, and I love every word of it.

Theses lines alone are very depressing but i must say that i live them. I have often felt this way before in fact I have written a poem quite like those lines. Anywho, all together I love the poem :)
