A Problem of the Highest Order

A Problem of the Highest Order

A Poem by Jaye Yee-Vandalyn

The state of the world.
An ache to the hearts.
A world of starvation, calamity, corruption.

Darker than the dark screens of the tele.
Such are the news we call news.
Nothing new, just the forgotten ways,
And negativity for norm.

For those who see beyond their sorrows.
With hands holding bodily wounds a bleeding.
We heal the world for problems we see.
But the True Problems of the Highest Order "

Are nestled in the minds.

Unbeknownst to us all,
The physically wounded are transcendent in bliss,
Yet the ones who watch from the tele,
With a pity for those who lack of the material are but pitied,
By them with the richest of souls.

Our hearts and minds stuffed in a dusty closet.
Tearing hairs, stabbing backs, cashing cheques.
To be the perfectly sculpted piece of pawn.
And forgotten are the ways to reach within.

For the truth,
Is not hidden in the blue light of a smartphone.
Speak to the ones enlightened by the blue light of the sea.
They’ll whisper the truth as the stars did last night.

Within lie,
Your calm. Your truth. Your cure.
To the state of the world, and
To the ache in our hearts.

This is such an all-encompassing message, I can't respond to everything that crosses my mind as I read, except to say, I love the way you put it out there. These lines = the crux of writing with truth & brevity: "Such are the news we call news." . . . "And negativity for norm." Even tho your message is about many aspects of how our world seems to have become terminally broken, the thing that jumps out at me is how you suggest that the news & all other media have captured the wider consciousness into a web of negativity that perpetuates itself as we all break down into a squirming mass of bickering factions. I quit TV 18 months ago & my life has improved so much in that time, mainly becuz I do not foment anymore about all the s**t that's going on in the world. I do check in from time to time using online news, but I can't tell you how a steady stream of that s**t can corrupt your sensibilities & drag down your creativity into a puddle of piss. I took two months off just now to write a book & during that time was not reading at the cafe. It's kinda sad to come back & how all the postings are about bad stuff. Hardly any happy thoughts being posted by talented writers all over the world. Your writing really provokes a ton of stuff to come pouring out (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
