A New Slug in SchoolA Poem by Jane E. RiesMs. Emma's class is nervous about a new classmate.Ms. Emma’s class at Gastropoda Elementary started like any other day, then news started to spread, “There’s a new slug in school, a new slug in school!”
“Well,” said Know-It-All-Barbara, “I hear he is the meanest slug of all.”
“Well,” said Bonita Melita, “His name is slugger and that is exactly what he’ll do to you.”
“Well,” said Queen Charlene, “He will slurp up your lunch and do a double burp.”
“Well,” said Sabrina the Dreamer, “He’ll slime you every chance he gets.”
“Well,” said Super Man Stan, “He will bulge his tentacles out so far, he’ll knock you down.”
“Well,” said Rhyming Yi-Ling, “His tail is like a whip and he’ll use it to make you trip.”
Suddenly the classroom door opened and in walked the biggest, scariest slug you’ve ever seen. “Class,” said Miss Emma, “Welcome your new friend Junior.”
Behind the big slug entered a little slug with a backpack and he said, “Hello everyone, this is my dad and he’s brought bananas for everyone!”
“Ewwww! Yuck! Terrible! Boo!” everyone protested.
Junior’s Dad said in a big booming voice, “Well of course, ROTTEN bananas!”
“Yay!” everyone yelled, “Junior! Junior! Junior!”
Junior’s dad passed out the rotten bananas and everyone enjoyed meeting their nice, new friend. © 2014 Jane E. Ries |
