Cautious

Cautious

A Poem by Margret Sent

Every time I expect something from you
You just have to find a way to let me down
I'm running out of things that I could do
I could keep on shouting but you won't hear a sound

I should've known you were just playing right from the very start
You were so cautious on your poorly treated heart
You left but didn't even say a goodbye
You can have all your reasons but I would never know why

You left me with nothing but these damn sweet memories
And that one special moment when I thought we'd be more than this
But I was too fast on making conclusions
And I ended up making all the wrong decisions

Could you please tell me what happened that made things wrong
Cause I still don't know the answer after playing rewind for so long
We're a broken casette tape and the only thing you'll hear
Is nothing but the hurt of that one single tear

You called me yours but I wasn't all too sure if you were mine
I didn't get anything from you that would have proven all the signs
I know it was wrong of me to assume things were becoming right
It ended up blinding me before I could see the light

Go fall in love with someone else
I wouldn't go as far as destroying myself
I'm not enough for you which may be all right
Cause one thing for sure is that you're the wrong guy

I can't wait for your sorry cause there wasn't a fight
Our hellos were forgotten, and I shouldn't expect a goodbye
You should go now but please don't come back
Cause I on the other hand has finally given up on us
