Foolish

Foolish

A Poem by Margret Sent

I will never understand the trouble we get ourselves into
We keep on dreaming yet we still don't know what to do
We aim to be loved but think we're not enough
We want to be strong but the road just gets more tough

Now who are you to say that you're better than anyone else
Behind your mask is a boy who desperately needs help
Now who am I to point out the wrong things I see
When I, myself is a girl who only knows misery

You left, I cried, I was shattered just like glass
I let you go, you regret it, and now who has the final laugh
You now think you were too good, as do I
But it just covers up the pain when we know we're not so strong inside

We once belonged together, no place felt more safe
Would you ever come to think that all of it was a waste
We found love, or at least we thought we did
But we know we kept on fighting until it had to end

A single strand that separates love from pain
We were confused, stuck in the middle once again
Now who are we to blame when we were just kids lost in the idea of love
We accepted what we thought we deserved, nothing wrong in that

You were once what I needed, my lifeline
But then again, we didn't know what to think at the time
Now go and hold your head up high
We both know that's what's left in us are our foolish prides
