I Want to Write of the Beautiful Things

I Want to Write of the Beautiful Things

A Poem by The Hampstead Poet

I spent so long writing about the bad things in life
The ugly things
The painful things
And I thought that only pain was worth putting into writing
That the point of pain was to drive you to make something beautiful
And that's how you survived it.
But now
I want to put something beautiful into writing
To immortalize it
To remember it
I want my words to speak of love
Of kindness
Of soft summer breezes
And of cold winter nights
By the fire
With the person you love the most.
I want to write of the feeling that nothing else matters
To isolate the beauty I didn't think I knew
To look love
and life
in the face
and acknowledge it.
I want to capture forever
the things that matter
and make life worth living
and never let them go
To capture the warmth and love I feel in this moment
In the moments I feel immortal
and endless
when I'm not.
Show me how
