Eleventh Hour Vigil

Eleventh Hour Vigil

A Poem by jane7z

Eleventh Hour Vigil
My life has been peeled away
to my body's core
exposing
skin stretched over
bare bones

Although the nurses hold my hand
and love ones weep
I must walk this path alone

my tenacious vitality
which saw me through the
roller coaster challenges of life
no longer visit me
I hold on by a
poof of air through my lungs

This earthly shell
is cracking and falling away
so my spirit can be released
set free
