Eternity in Fleshly Cases

Eternity in Fleshly Cases

A Poem by jane7z

We have eternity framed in such
frail fleshly cases
An ill wind
pushes us in our place
for a while
The wind can't blow out the
pilot light that is our soul
until it's time for us to move on

My casing is so fragile lately
time to ponder
and reflect
the breathless incandescence that
is our lives
fleeting memories making up that time
velvetfuzzydaze
whoosh it's gone in a haze
as the hands of our life clock wind down

in the quiet of my illness
enforced inactivity
stillness
there is no fear
for what will come

only an anticipation
of a new life situation
all of the lessons
in that time to be learned

I am curious, but I shall remain so ...for now.......

fragile casings...my illness...stillness...new life situation ...

dust

they say we will be
dust, one day
and the mysteries will not change us

our Earthly ignorance will regress
amd in perfect irony
brilliance will find us
after the fact

all the lost dreams will gather
and smile at our silly beliefs
as the noose of yesterday unravels

in life, we stand behind granite masks
mountain tall and strong,
but the fissures are evidence
the precursor of our imminent erosion

the struggle is folly
and for the final slap, once dust
we are marked for the future
with stone, a laughing reminder
of our fleeting existence
