Guard over your heart with all  diligence for from it flows the springs of life.

Proverbs 4:23

I removed the heart from inside of me

Impulsively

Flinging caution aside

Exposed it to the world of men

a vibrant ruby light- filled organ

Pulsating with the soul treasure I possess

The essential core of who I am

Emanating from every cell of that now

Extraneous tissue

Awkwardly hoping to attract a kindred

Emitting long range heart waves

Sending a siren song

A longing for connection

Over a wide range

Seeking warmth

Affection Empathy

Whose heart's rhythm echoed mine

Ba bump ba bump ba bump lol

A true symbiotic match

Faux hearts clamored around

Declaring undying affection

Aiming for sensual gratification

Sidestepping the beating sound near

Their feet lol

The passion soon faded

They became bored with familiar terrain

Without studying geography of this heartland

Our hearts were incomprehensible to each other

the newly minted love affair fizzled and blew away

On the wind

The terminally ill and wounded hearts

Truly wanted to connect with mine

But soon an infection began in my heart

Mine being not completely whole

Developed a bad cold

I revived my heart

Bundled it up

Feeding it homemade

Chicken Noodle Soup

I sprayed their calls with Lysol

A few hearts

Were frozen stone cold solid

Ignoring the anguish they caused

Icicles entrapped their hearts

I was unable to melt their hearts

Fearful of hypothermia

I Plucked up my heart

Thawed it out again

And fled towards the fire

I tenderly scooped up

The remains of my heart

Vowing it to heal again

To guard over it

As a sentry

monitoring all that come and go

from the castle keep

not allowing entrance to those

without the desire to learn

the language of an open heart

or the essence that radiates out of it

This heart resides once again

encased in a fragile flawed being

I refuse to retreat

Being selective in who

Touches my heart

Mindfully seeking to be a

salve to other wounded hearts

to coax hardened hearts

seeing the infinite value found there
