Waiting

A few years ago
seems like a lifetime now lol
Arose a recognition of need
that was echoed in me
To rip out of emotional bonds
keeping people apart
I wrote many words
pretty much in vain
Trying a different tact
decided face to face contact is where it's at
so I began again to wait tables
but really recognize I am a food slave
and that plan has its flaws

Connection has to be organic
it happens as it wills
yet there is a deep knowing
that some of the same things
are stirring in others hearts
to throw off , rip off and shred
the emotional chains
those core hurts that keep people imprisoned
keeping them from healing
from being free in their lives
keep walls up between us

Maybe this idea of being open and exposed
is unrealistic for our times
really we all need to be careful and
guard who we allow to glimpse into our
souls
Maybe this idea is crazy or ahead of its time
It requires people to be kind
and really sloooooooooow down and care
to be your brother's keeper
not leave him stranded in his hurt
to take a chance

Stubbornness won't let it go
It permeates most of my life
when my time is up
The sand of my hourglass
has run dry
I will be at peace with myself
because where others were concerned
in my little part of this universe
I tried
