Slate Blue Funk

Slate Blue Funk

A Poem by jane7z

Slate Blue Funk
The colors of my world are slate blue grey
the steely chill colors of a midwinter sky
has snuck into my soul
Dark olive green and a cold brown
bits of black swirl around
Can't warm up lol

The bright lights hurt my eyes and
the sound of people drive me in to
hibernate
silence and my quiet apartment have become
welcome friends of mine

Let me cocoon hide away
waiting for Spring to set in
thawing out these blue grays
warming up my steely thoughts
and emotions
even my humor has a bite like an artic wind
that suddenly swooshes out of nowhere
but seeps into the marrow

I can't deny my funk anymore
Sink into it and accept it
Didn't sign up for this gig
but will embrace this time of sadness

when the warmth comes back I will
throw off this heavy cloak and
rejoice but for now
not running from it anymore.
