What I'll Miss

What I'll Miss

A Story by jammer
"

How wonderful life is

"

I’m going to miss the way the wind speaks to the trees.  Have you ever listened to their conversations?  Sometime the trees sway to a fro as if in a dance, like they are lost in the arms of a lover.  You can hear them if you listen close enough.  Open you heart and mind to what’s happening around you.  Your ears can only hear part of the conversation.

I’m going to miss the way the sun kisses the horizon.  The night has a way of hiding the beauty, but when the sun chases away all the shadows, the beauty that our eyes behold is unequaled.  Blessed are those who can “see” beyond what is around them.

I’m going to miss the sounds of the woods.  Walking through the woods is an escape that everyone should partake in.  The woods welcome you with open arms, welcoming you home, when the hustle and bustle of life is too much to bear.  A silent solitude that refreshes, and revitalizes the soul.

I’m going to miss love.  The pallet of Poets, philosophers and novelist.  Although, it has been the backbone of many pieces of work, few have yet to master its complexities.  Love is an equation the greatest mathematicians could never conquer.  There are far to many variables.

I will welcome my journey Home.  I pray for acceptance, forgiveness and understanding, as I approach the gates of Heaven.

I agree with Ees...this is truly an inspiring piece... probably my favorite of your writing. But i'm not sure if the 'format' should be under Poems. I wouldn't change or re-write it. Maybe put it under another category. Very, very nice job! Xxx

I am not a fan of the format you chose to write this in. For me poems are stronger with fewer words making more impact and paragraphs are best left to stories.
The images that you created, though, are lovely and well done.

If I were to take your poem and recreate it in a way that I find easier to read, here is what I would do:

I will miss
the wind speaking to
the trees.
Subtle conversations.

The branches of the trees
then sway in the arms of
the embracing wind as a lover would.
Leaves rustling like crinoline in a dress.

I will miss the way that
the sun kisses the horizon.
In night-
the beauty hides behind the
scenes
waiting for the sun to chase away
the shadows.
seeing more.

I'll miss the woods.
The worn paths
with the trees overhead,
birds twittering
and woodland animals
scattering
to and fro
as part of their busy little lives

and it all welcomes me home.
'
The silence too,
is there in a way
separate from my own world
and it revitalizes my soul.

I will miss the love.
I will miss the writers and artists
-the thinkers!
who try to master the complicated equation.

Mathematicians will never conquer it
either.
It is an encompassing beauty
and warmth, is love
that refuses, rebelliously to be understood.

I will welcome
my journey Home
too
while I pray
for acceptance, forgiveness, understanding
as I approach Heaven's gates.

It seems easier for me to spot out the important stuff that way. You did an amazing job with your tale of life though...
