Granddaddy, my best friend

Granddaddy, my best friend

A Poem by Jamie Mayo

Someone special has this day departed
But I can see his smile
Free from pain
Free from anguish

He made me smile when I was sad
He gave me a mouse and played with me
To be his granddaughter oh I am glad
He always found a way to make me happy

My granddaddy was simple
He was always looking out for a huge dimple
He made sure I was snuck tight
Every single night

He has hence departed from this world
I imagine him patting my back and saying
"Jamie you are my biggest pearl"
He would always do that every single day until I stopped crying

Oh how I miss him so much
Oh how I miss being with him
Holding my granddaddy's hand
The best feeling in the world

I was his baby girl
He was my big daddy
We were more than just family
We were the best of friends

I miss you granddaddy
I miss you my favorite playmate
I'll see you someday
Somewhere high up where I also hope to be

It's hard to really forget him and let go but if your memory of him is still alive, I'm sure.. I'm very very sure that he is happy where he is. He's a good man, I know. The pain you went through, it will disappear but will again appear when you remember.. I'm not sure but I feel how you feel and I don't know why... The flow of the poem is simple.

Just one advice: Never let your memory of him go. It's one of your greatest treasures. Believe me.
