Just one more drink.

Just one more drink.

A Poem by Jamie

Just one more drink
Then I'll be fine
Sinking deeper into my own personal hell
Be it whiskey or wine.

This flood of empty glasses
Are causing me to think
Is this how it all starts?
Or am I already at the brink?

A lonely bar
Brings a lonely mind
A bottomless glass
Such a murderous find.

As I consume a dark night
A blurred vision takes over my sight
People surround me but they slowly fade to black
I lay in my own blood from my blind attack.

'Such a murderous find' I thought that line was the best in the work. You deal with addiction in alcoholism well, you explain the negatives to life, the false promise, the lie and include that one word murderous... and it is and it makes men into murderers.

There was an Irish comedian years ago, I think his name was Alun, he made mockery of drinks and drink, but the truth is it is a murderous business.

Well done.

So true! :)
I guess that one more got you to where you want to be. Well, at least escaping from where you don't want to be. And why? That's the real question.
