white crayon

white crayon

A Poem by Somebody you've already forgoten

Crayons are all so different and so unique.

They come in all different colors

But are packed oh so tightly in a single box.

And we all get excited because we get to color,

But when we come across that white crayon we ignore it.

We think nothing of it, we make it out to be usless,

But is it really all that usless?

No, even though we dont use it, we need it.

Sometimes I want to be a white crayon so I can just see all the colors around me.

Never being disturd, or being used.

Sometimes I want to be a white crayon.

you can get some dazzling effects by blending and highlighting the other colors..and it can do some neat things on grey and black paper.

One thing i really like is when poets choose an object, or anything, that goes unnoticed and writes about it. Nobody realizes that the white crayons is sitting alone in the box while the other colorful crayons are sprawled out on the floor. Nice choice of topic.

That's sort of what it is to write, isn't it? To be the one who never gets bothered, but sits around recording everytthing, critiquing everthing, considering everything. Nice little poem. Very honest voice.
