Viking Heart

Viking Heart

A Poem by Ferghul Desmond

I think I've got a Viking Heart
And I could brave the coldest sea
And raid the Irish coast
For the treasures that I seek.

I've drunk to golden moons
Hanging in the August sky
And I've seen the valkeries dance
Through the heather in the night.

And I've often dreamed of you
And I've wondered where you are.
Do you ever think of me
When you're looking at the stars?

I think I've got a Viking Heart
I've said my prayers up to the sky
No one ever answered back,
I guess Odin closed his eye.

So I roam from town to town
Across every fjord and lea
While these shadows circle around,
It's just Thought and Memory.

And I've often dreamed of you
And who holds you in his arms?
Do you ever think of me
When you're sitting by the fire?
