Tears in Blue Rain

Tears in Blue Rain

A Poem by James Crouch

Keepeth the night at bay
For tears have fallen within blue rain
Slight cuts in the mountain strong
That hold on to ancient storms

Steeples of cold iron
Are frozen in the wind
See them scrape the sky
Bury the soul within

For I am tired now
Of trudging these well-worn lanes
That keep me from moving on
So now I am lost again

Keepeth the night at bay
For tears have fallen within blue rain
I am the ghostly giant
That steps forth on the plains

There is a feel of being worn down and weary and ready to capitulate but powerless in this sombre piece. Love the second stanza which seems to convey a skyline that holds no joy for the protagonist. For myself I saw a country scene and a church steeple, knowing religion to be inept and cold and unhelpful to many.

These lines speak to me of hurts which have cut into a personality that is normally strong. I felt deep emotion here apart from weariness. There is beautiful imagery contained in the lines. I like the old fashioned language here, it add to the romance of the poem.
