For you, Brother

For you, Brother

A Poem by James Crouch

The soldier born, amongst the arrows
A quiver of sunshine that shakes the sorrow
Fibre strong, with a lion's mane
That sends oceans forth into the grain

The mantle shattered, like earthen stones
That roll through the rivers, far from home
Burdened hearts like newborn stars
That anchor travellers, riding far

Tied like golden strands of day
That blesses the brink with a heavenly blaze
Fallen angels are the heart's new rain
That sing as they fly into arms again

Such are the lost and sacred truths
That we sew like the seeds that fall into you
Found in the water of the forest's falls
That gather in the trees, to delight them all

For the open wounds are the sign of the bear
That stands on the mountain, through shadows it stares
It roars through the night to awaken the hills
That roll into valleys, no longer so still

This is the tale that graces the fields
That carry the message, far from here
For Brother, my ship sails ever on
For the harbour bleeds crimson, by the setting sun

Full of rich and unique images and stirring words. Sounds like a tale told by a warrior.
