Undying Lands

Undying Lands

A Poem by James Crouch

I am the king of the undying lands

A throne of thorns made by idle hands

Those that have reigned know I be true

For the valley is washed and born anew

I am the prince of the underground world

A kingdom of crystals, diamonds and pearls

Brought into daylight by the tunnels so wide

Tales are told of what lies inside

I am the pauper of the village so old

Thatch huts and cook fires and old stories told

Travelling east as the world comes undone

We dance and we dive, we wander, we run

I am the messenger, I carry the winds

A fiery breeze that carries adventure within

Lost in the forest that reaches deep in the night

The sounds of the creatures that creep out of sight

I am the soul, of a world lost in time

Where heroes are born and legends don’t die

I am the keeper of secrets so old

Where flames burn bright as the stories are told
