Blue Lagoon

Blue Lagoon

A Poem by James Crouch

A blue lagoon, past the trees
Where travellers come to wash their feet
To bathe and bask in the setting sun
To lie and laugh until the day is done

The great fires that burn, against the tide
Where creatures dance into the night
It’s all aflame in the violet sky
Where the winds blow and the angels fly

Foreign stars, break apart
That stain the earth with collapsed hearts
That rise the soil and birth the wind
Sending rivers forth into oceans again

The sirens call, into the storm
That let the ships sail on and on
A captain’s heart speared at sea
For the blue lagoon is where he is meant to be
