A FEARFUL TRIP

John said to me,”What a beautiful place David? ” I said,”Yes, but it was your plan so all credit goes to you”. I and John were best friends from class 8. Till class 12, we were in the same school but after 12, he decided to study in India and I went abroad, from then I and John had no communication with each other. One month ago, John suddenly called me after 12 years and asked for the trip to Ajanta and Ellora. John works as a chemical engineer in Tata chemicals and I am a Data scientist in Infosys. We both took twenty days leave from our offices. We reached Ajanta yesterday. John has changed a lot. His voice has become heavy which is somewhat strange to me but it may be because of some hormonal changes. John said,”This is the place where I always wanted to come, everything is so fascinating. The atmosphere, the cave paintings just reminds me of the prehistoric life. And more than that you are with me. We are meeting each other after around twenty years. I am very happy today. ” I asked John,”When do you intent to start your family”. John didn’t reply. John asked me a return question,”Do you believe in ghost David?”I said,”No, John. I don’t believe in this fact because there is no proof. ” John said,”I had a friend named James who died one year ago but his family and his friends except me says that he still comes to meet them but he never came to meet me. That’s why I asked you whether you believe in ghost or not”. I was feeling very uncomfortable so I changed the topic and said,” Today we will enjoy our day, let’s go to our hotel and think what should be done and where we will go in these twenty days? “ John and I went back to our hotel and took some rest. John had brought some books to read. I took some rest while he kept on reading the books. The books were related to physics. The book which he was reading is the book of quantum leap. I knew that he loved physics and used to score good marks. I still remember the day when our last exam of class 12 was over and that day we had physics exam. After the exam he was vey happy and told us that he will definitely score full marks. I still remember his face which is a mixture of joyful and melancholic mood. He was joyful because of his exam and melancholic because he knew very well that he would never see me after that because I will be going abroad. I told him,”Don’t worry John we will meet again when we will be established.” I didn’t know when I slept. I woke up after John called me to for the lunch. We went to the to dining hall to have lunch. The hotel had buffet system. In the menu we had, pork fry, chilli chicken, fried rice, chilli fish, ice cream, beer. I ate a lot because the taste of the food were awesome but John didn’t eat anything because his stomach was not functioning properly. In the evening, I went to a pharmacy to buy some medicines for John. I can’t understand what is happening to him, he was fine yesterday but today he is behaving very strangely. After buying the medicines while I was returning home, I received a phone call from one of my friend who had studied with us in class 12, I was surprised to get his call. I answered the call and said,”Hello Peter, how are you bro? “ Peter said,” I am fine. What about you? ” I told him,”I am in Ajanta and Ellora with John.” Peter asked me,”Which John?” I told him,”Our friend John who had studied with us and was my best friend.” Peter was shocked by my statement. He said,”What kind of joke is this John?”. Peter continued,” John died one year ago due to a car accident and you are saying that he is with you”. I ended the call. Peter sent me an article which says that a person named John Doswer died due to a car accident. I was shocked and afraid. I could hear someone is saying,”Afterlife is real, Now you know it.” The night was dark , the moon was absent and the sky was empty.
