A Word to You

A Word to You

A Poem by Jamie F. Nugent

These hands on the clock
Would want to get a grip on you and
Break you down,
Jealous ideas have frozen your face
Into piercing eyes, death stare and frown.
Your King treated you just like his Queen
But you made him your Jester.
And,yes, you have a lot of nerve
To do the things you have done.
To put him in your pocket
In the palm of your hand.
I'm running out of will
To try and understand
How you can be so cruel,
Make him your fool
And still feel no shame.
But I guess it's all the same for you
As long as you get your way
As long as don't have to pay
As long as no one will say
A word to you.
