Six Little Monkeys

Six Little Monkeys

A Poem by Joshua Daniel

Six little monkeys

live in my head.

Swinging up high

in a canopy of dread.

Whispering hate

into my ears.

Licking their lips

at all of my fears.

Tying the noose

at the nape of my neck.

They kick the stool

and make me a wreck.

Some feet under,

cold in the ground.

Those six little monkeys

they don't mess around.

Hard-hitting and effective. Unsettling.
