Stand

Stand

A Poem by Lyr J. Thirsk

As people run, will you stand?

As night descends, will you remain?

When father's cry, and warriors weep,

Will your countenance provide peace?

As autumn brown transforms to grey

and endless winter dust starves the child

will you find food?

All tumults crash, the symphony clamours

songs are grunted, hopes never were,

sight is not wished for, all try to kill

Will you fix? Will you direct?

Will you sing? Will you inspire?

Will you become beauty? Will you protect?

When the lasting battle comes,

and the seven horses sprawl,

Death's trumpet is heard

spirits walk the face of the earth

the living cringe in hiding.

Or when your babe cries, your loved one feels hurt

your girl is torn. When these battles commence?

Will you go away, disintegrate, decompose, surrendur, end?

or will you Stand?
