Return

Return

A Poem by The Midnight Writer

It was sudden, almost instantaneous,

When she was stripped away from me.

But she returned.

I expected nothing to change,

Like the time in between never existed.

But she changed.

You wouldn't notice how she changed but you could feel it in the air.

Time had lost my heart and left an empty shell.

The only thing that I felt was pain.

The memories that began to flood in and drowned me.

I dont know the future, but I now know that we will never be what we once were.

Best friends.

Your style is very direct and straight to the point; it gives the reader a more Gothic feeling. I enjoyed reading this,

The feeling was sad but true. Often people return to us after a long while and they are changed. We want to love them just as if they never left but they are different. It almost as if we don't know this person anymore. Then we must figure a way to deal with this new version of a person we thought we new for a long time when in fact they are an entirely different person.

A sad poem to be sure, but one of hope that people will come back to us especially friends. Sometimes the best way to maintain friendships is to put a little space in between. Thanks for sharing such a beautiful poem and have a great day.
