A Poem by Ayatollah Ayatollah

"Listen it's boring here," you said.
"Let's go look for Eden." and we were only young
with nothing to lose but our faith
so hand in hand and one by one we went

to the roads much taken, then you:
"Where's the map," so we bothered the grave but hell was
on holiday, now who to ask
why go and wander, that's just called living

I had a plan - let's ask God but
God doesn't hear you if you offer what you have
so I borrowed some of your hopes
and made a bonfire burning unhopes

made our landfall at half past past
you looked around and said "this is Gethsemane"
close enough, and I marked the map
then we curled up in the garden and dreamt
