My Philosophy

A Chapter by Matt Stewart

Through the years I've noticed that most people I've talked to from other faiths believe that we, as Christians have a "Holier Than Thou" mindset, but the truth is that we as Christians are just as vulnerable as any one else to temptation. The difference is between our faith and others is that within our faith we're promised something that most faiths don't, A SECOND CHANCE. We are only forgiven though if we come forth with a heavy heart, and seek to change our lives. That strength to do so only comes through the Spirit which is done through the work of a mighty God.

For one to have a heavy heart and seeking forgiveness means to take notice of sin for its filth and depravity, and to have the strength to turn away from it; the kind of strength that we have ONLY by the gracious and loving nature of God.

In times of struggle and doubt, Satan, our one true adversary, finds us most vulnerable and easy to manipulate, and that's why it's so crucial within these times to focus on the blessings in our lives, rather than what's wrong in our lives. If we focus on all we have and those that truly love us, there's no room for negative thoughts and feelings to encompass us.

Negativity is like quicksand; the more you keep your mind on the struggle, the quicker you drown.

If you care for someone, express it with the work of the heart, because money and material possesions come to pass in time, like sand being taken in by the tide, but pure words and actions of the heart carry on for a lifetime.

True heroes don't chase fame, fortune, gratification, or material possessions, the yearn for that one moment to be a positive impact on someones life, without thought of reward.

I'm young but I know this much about love atleast; it's letting her know often exactly what you love about her, having no problem being early though she may be late, and just taking the craziness that comes along with it in stride and learning from one another. Love isn't about gifts, sex, or many of the material things we associate with it, it's about caring for someone and knowing who they are and understanding why...the key is to have patience and to listen; atleast that's what I've come to believe.

There's a clear difference in arrogance and confidence; arrogance is being great, and wanting to tell the world. Confidence is being great and seeing no need, and putting greatness into action. To sum it all up, ARROGANCE= WORDS, CONFIDENCE= ACTION.

A strong and willing heart can make even the most vivid echos of the past fall silent.

The pathway to Heaven is set for the faithful, righteous, and most humble of hearts. Though even the most righteous shall fall, our shephard shall save us from the deepest valleys, for the Lord can touch the hardest of hearts, and most wandering souls.

Music is meditation, life in rhyme, a source of comfort that never dies. Music is expression, a safe place to hide from the calamity of the world outside. Music is unity, music is passion; music is love, the source that really matters.

We all wear masks; some t hat condemn, some that encourage, and some that just seek acceptance. What mask have you chosen to wear today, or is there any reason to cover up at all?

Show me an artist who's always confident, secure, and satisfied, and I'll show you an artist with no passion.

There are moments in life, whether it be happiness, sorrow, love, or grief, when words can never suffice. For thos that are willing, actions speak greater volumes than any words could begin to express.

I've heard it said that the only way the church can be unified, despite denominations and beliefs, is through the Holy Spirit. If that is the case, can people of the faith not do this together since that same Holy Spirit inhabits us all?

The winds of change are ceaseless and permanent, but with a willing heart and vibrant spirit, one can weather any storm.

Times are changing as painful as it can be sometimes, and yet as I get older I begin to understand, it's not an issue of what you're losing, but all that you're gaining.

I've come to realize love is a game of chance; you can put your whole heart into something, but it doesn't always mean you'll break even. The fact is though, at the end of the day it's a chance worth taking, because win or lose, you tend to walk away with something fundamental if you pay enough attention to all things, physical and spiritual that surround you.

Music; a force that can break me to the core, make me forget about the world around me for a matter of time, and can fill me with the adrenaline I need day by day. It seems to understand my pain, and it rejoices with me in my times of happiness. It's a part of me; my heart, my soul, my worship and praise to the Father who created me. Life is a song, circumstances are the melody, and decisions are the lyrics.

Pursue honoring God in all you do, love with passion, live with no regrets, confront the past instead of fleeing from it. These things take a lifetime to accomplish, but once you do accomplish them, you find you reach a total state of peace.

When you're down on your luck, your eyes are more open to blesings. When you're down to your last cent you realize what survival means. When you feel alone God has a way of showing you all you have. When your faith is shaken God is the one to calm the storms of the soul.

Take life for the uncertainty that it is. Through every moment of struggle and relief; through every moment of joy and pain, is a chance to find wisdom, a chance to find purpose. I haven't lived that long, but I've lived long enough to realize that life is too short for regrets. Sometimes you have to risk heartache in order to grow.

Death is unavioidable and comes and passes in an instant. It's an event that we base life so much around that we don't see the beauty of life while we have it. Yeah it's complicated, crazy and sad sometimes, but you've just gotta take life as it is for the crossroads and roadblocks.

If you're a musician, you should feel the music you play with all your heart and soul; you should be moved by every chord and every lyric that is played and sang. If your whole heart and soul is not is not in what you are performing, you're not doing a song justice.

One of the good things about being singe is freedom, but what happens when you get bored from that "freedom"? What happens when you realize it's only fun for a time. That's when the truth of the matter sets in. We talk about how being single is such a blessing, yet as humans, we're all deeply wanted to be heard, understood, accepted, and loved.

How I pray the sun would not set on this guilty heart and soul; the loneliness and pride that takes over me from day to day. My hope is that I may come before God with a whole and humble heart, knowing that it's only by His grace I can be what people see in me. There's hope beyond this life, and that's what should keep us going in times of strife, and when we see how barren we really are.

It's crucial during our spiritual growth to question why we believe what we believe, but there comes a time when all questions need to stop; there comes a time when we just need to say, "Lord, I can never understand you for all that majesty that you are, but I have faith and trust in you!"

There are three crucial things Christians need in order to live for God and bear fruit for the kingdome. We need to be in prayer daily, be in God's word daily, and continuously be accountable with our brothers and sisters. If these three mesh together a life of faith is evident, but if one is missing, it can lead to disaster.

I've noticed three main things to becoming a descent musician:

1)Practice at least 10 to 20 minutes a day (If your hearts in it it's easy).

2)Take the time to study different musical genres and find different influences.

3) Find your own sound. Something major music is missing today is ORIGINALITY!!!

Death; it's something we all fear, and spend our whole lives worrying about, it seems. As I've grown I've come to believe in life we all live for one of two things; either we are living for God, or for the world. Life is a vapor, and we only have it for a short time, but through Christ we find life everlasting in Heaven. Every second counts and every breath matters. If we have Christ as our Lord and Savior there is nothing to fear.

Hell is a very real and dark reality, and unfortunately some just don't believe in it until they experience it themselves. Everyone has their own perceptions of what Hell is, but when it comes down to it, it is eternal distance from God and His glory.

Conviction isn't a curse, it's a sign that you're growing spiritually and within your heart. It's displaying the fact that the sins you used to just ignore actually are disgusting in your sight. It's true, as humans we never stop sinning, but a true sign of spiritual growth is when you look back on sin and feel guilt for it. God doesn't convict us just for us to feel guilty for all we've done, it's because He has created us for better things, and He wants us, like Him, to hate the very sin that restrains us from being righteous as He has called us to be.

It's better to be convicted in truth, than to walk in ignorance.

They say the road to Hell is paved with good intentions. I guess what really matters along the way is what we do between where we begin and where we end. Any person can have good intentions, but it takes a strong will to see it through.

Some people go through life failing to realize that sometimes you have to go through Hell to get a glimpse of Heaven. Our trials, and how we react to them define our character.

How we should come to our senses and love others as our Father loves us; a love so real, that he would send His Son to earth to teach us of His ways, and become our way of salvation and a relationship with Him through faith in His Son, our beloved Messiah. Don't let the world blind you with it's ideals of "love", because it's garbage. Love happens from the inside, and works its way outward, not the other way around. Even in that fact, when God saw how barren we are within, he showed us grace and mercy. How dare we question that.

I've heard before from someone who had misinterpreted Gods Word that everyone has a different perception or outlook on what Scripture means, but the truth of the matter is there is not different truths for different people, there is ONE TRUTH, and the only way by which we understand it is by Gods Spirit. If you have the Spirit in you, you will have understanding, if not, then there's nothing that you can take from it. It doesn't boil down to our perceptions, it all comes back to GOD. Someone can read the entire Bible 50 times over, but if the Spirit is not within, there WILL NOT be understanding.

Be bold in the Lord, and not in the flesh. Boldness in the Lord brings about truth, and more importantly brings glory to the Father. Boldness within the flesh eventually brings about arrogance.

It's a sad state when society considers love as more of an obligation than a gift of God. Relationships take time, communication, and effort, but at it's core it's a bond of two people, not just a union whose future is based on circumstance.

A heart with burning passion will never be silenced, and when the body is gone the echos still resonate within the darkest hour, delivering hope to those who's passion for change are fleeting.

Society seems to constantly look for an "easy" way out. In my opinion so much of the time common since and simple love and encouragement seems to have been thrown out the window. I refuse to follow the pattern of self-reliance because by boasting in myself, I boast in the flesh, yet by boasting in God, and what He has done for me, I know He will use me to make a great change and bring many to His kingdom. It's only through reliance on God we find an inner peace that can never be offered by this world.

Always stand firm in your faith, ethics, and beliefs. Otherwise, it's all too easy to get entangled in different philosophies; philosophies that take a stand against your faith and the truths that you trust in and live by.

1 John 3:16

To truly love is to truly know Christ. Christ exemplified his love for us through the cross. For that we must love our selves enough to trust in His words "it is finished" and give up our own efforts of winning this battle of sin. Once we love ourselves we can love others, and justly exemplify Christ's love. It all points back to the cross.

This is the only culture I know of where fear is just another part of the economy. Case in point: People a lot of the time have bad perspectives or fear different cultures than our own. Why? Because the newspapers and media have a narrow perspective on things and they know fear=money. We've got to keep an open heart and mind for the lost, and toss the negative perspectives we're spoonfed daily out the door.

Apathy- Lack of emotion or feeling; impassiveness.

It's something we've all gotten way too used to, simply because an issue seems to big for us, but how soon we forget that NOTHING is too big for God. He uses the humble to do great things, and under His direction, even the weakest of us will have the strength to tear down the walls of fear we've built up for ourselves.

Count on humanity to take something simple, and out of our "greater logic" completely complicate it.

If in your life, there is not a constant war of pride and Spirit, somethings missing. The mark of a follower of the way is that we are constantly at war with sin, yet have given all our efforts to God, having faith that the war came to an end when Christ died for us.

One thing children have, that we as adults "grow out of" unfortunately, is innocence, and genuine faith. They can't visibly see God, but they don't need to, because they know and believe in their hearts He exists. As we get older we seek proof more and more, yet Christ asked us to have the simple love, trust, and faith of a child. The world around us shapes us all in different ways, but we should always keep genuine, simple faith in our Creator.

Maybe I'm being hard on myself, but as long as I can remember people have told me "You have potential." To me that that means that I'm just not good enough, like I'm lacking something. To be brutally honest I don't think to humanity, we ever reach our full potential. I believe in God's eyes, as long as we're seen as faithful and we live lives of obedience, that's what matters, and everything else is just human nature in general, never being satisfied.

I've come to realize one of the greatest tests of love is in the midst of being pushed to our limits, and the choice we make in the process. There's always a choice, either to pray for the people that hurt us, or to carry it in our hearts, and let it destroy us.

The narrow road to Heaven is not always paved with gold; it's sometimes paved with cement, dirt roads and rocky ones too. Sometimes you'll be blessed to have shoes on your feet and sometimes you'll have to walk barefoot. You're going to fall, go through doubt, but if we push forward in faith we'll see our Father standing to welcome us at the doorway of our home. The choice is always to continue to walk or not.
