RecollectA Poem by Matt StewartTeardrops turn to rays of sun as I look in heavens eyes; Finally I can see beyond my own pale discuise. Living for the world can never truly satisfy; I have to be honest with myself, and read between the lines. I never really was one to live for fortune or fame; I wasn't born into money, but I take pride in my last name. I've been to hell and back again to see the light of day; It's time to be thankful for all I have as I'm wrapped up in your grace. I've crossed the lines of wrong and right more times than I can count; I've cursed those who cared for me most, yet they love me anyhow. Now I can see so clearly, as you've washed my eyes to see There are more blessings than I ever knew right in front of me. Who am I to deserve such love, as many as I've let down? I lost faith in love and myself as I slowly began to drown. You rescured and delivered me from such hypocrisy; Now I know that I can become all you've meant for me to be. There's no road I can travel you won't be by my side; I'm just an angle in the making, but you've given me wings to fly. I pray to live a life of no regrets, and now I know why; Life is much too short for me to hang my head and try to question why. Through every broken heart, through all the pain and fear I see those I love around me, and that's how I know you're here. Your words, they flow like water, and your grace falls like rain; You took me from the depths of hell and I know I'll never be the same. Teach me how to live for you; teach me how to fly, And someday I will find my way when all these fears subside. © 2011 Matt Stewart |
