A Chapter by Matt Stewart

6/12/11
I feel much better today. I woke up this morning refreshed and ready to serve. Juan arrived very early this morning and was kind enough to serve us breakfast although I'm sure he was tired. At first he seemed intimidating; he was big, tall, and had a booming voice, but right away I found out he was a gentle giant who liked to joke around a lot.
After the morning service we headed to a nearby community in the hills of Jose Galvez. Elise told us the people there never leave the region, and there is one church near them that is Pentecostal. Luckily, La Roca has built a small sanctuary on the grounds, so after walking the rocky hills, meeting and inviting the locals, we held service and Derrick preached on salvation through Christ.
As soon as we returned Juan was kind enough to treat us to lunch at the Lima mall before church at 6. In the service, Derrick asked me to perform Cuan Grande es mi Dios before his sermon, the same as earlier. After service a local jewelry maker came by Eva's selling her homemade jewelry, so I bought a couple of pieces, one for mom, and one for Rachel. This book could never keep track of all the thoughts I've had here. I've experienced joy, love, happiness, loneliness, frustration, but no matter what I've gone through or felt, God always has a way of blessing my day and life through the people here.
