6/4/11A Chapter by Matt Stewart6/4/11
An hour after I woke up this morning the group had a time of prayer and music, then we made it to Eva's for breakfast. The hospitality and kindness of the people here are such a blessing. After breakfast I set out to observe chldrens ministry which lasted from 10 A.M. until 12. First they played 15 minutes of soccer, then all the children head to the chapel for a time of worship. The children here are amazing; they are so excited about worship and learning God's word. When all the kids were leaving I played a game of soccer with Eva's nephew, and he was gracious enough to let me get two goals in after scoring ten times and constantly outrunning me.
We just got back from lunch at Eva's and waiting for Santiago to get here. Tonight we are supposed to to to different areas of ministry, then we're meeting at Eva's house, who has kept us all well fed and made us feel so at home. I'm so used to getting food to go back home, I've forgotten the simple pleasure of eating with family. I've got a lot to think about here. Eva was telling me both Keesa and Elise came back for a three month stay after their first trip here, and now they're both full time teachers here. I can't say I wouldn't miss the people I love back home, but I feel like I belong here. There seems to be no sense of time, and great love among the people in this place.
Around four I rested for an hour, when Santiago came by. We weren't able to go to the different ministries, but he took us for a trip around the area we will visit next Sunday. When we got back some people were practicing guitar, so I played with them for a few minutes, then joined Priscilla and her friends in a game of soccer. After playing we all went to Eva's to get some water, and before dinner I was able to talk with her. It's been a blessing recieving such great wisdom from such a wonderful woman of God. After dinner and talking with Eva about current events we all went back to our rooms to get some sleep. © 2011 Matt Stewart |
