Praying For SpringA Poem by Matt StewartA thousand mile's I've walked alone,
Past rushing streams, along my way home; In the dead of winter, when all hope seems gone, Awaiting for spring to resurface. I've felt the wind and the bitter chill, and it tends to remind me of days before, When I was once lost along my way to heavens blissful shore. So many faces along the way, So many memories I can't replace; But on I walk as I try my best to keep a strong and steady pace. Within this town, too dead for dreaming I await the call of the bluebird singing A song of peace that is the spring, so all can feel whole again. The tree's, they lay bare, as if in sorrow, Waiting for the promises of tomorrow, When they shall spread their leaves again within the radiant sun. All smiles at once shall return to all faces In different times, in many places When the flowers bloom to symbolize the birth of a new day. But for now the earth is quietly waiting For the chirping of birds that will be nesting Within these trees that lay so bare, that soon will be filled with leaves. So now I wait for the joys of spring, The feelings of peace and hope it brings, As I silently wait, walking among these cold, empty streets. © 2010 Matt Stewart |
