Prayer

Prayer

A Poem by Matt Stewart

The sun shines through the darkness to light the way back home.
Laid to rest is all the pain; the struggles that I've known.
Faces of my past no longer haunt me day by day.
I've found a reason to believe; I pray my heart shall never stray.
Beyond the shadows of these walls lies a truth that is known;
The reflection I once feared finally castes its final stone.
Here I pray I may be delivered from the sin that held me down,
As I try to walk this narrow road, where hope is truly found.
Father I pray you would hear me; may I never stray.
May I be the man you've intended me to be, so I may witness you in all your glory someday.
Let not the stone mark my memory, the ground mark the end of my days.
May the words I speak pierce the hearts of those that have run away.
For the ones who feel so empty; for all those dwelling in shame.
May your spirit fill their hearts, and your glory ever reign.
Life is but vapor, dust in the wind thats purpose is to stray.
Heaven is our one true home, 'till the end of all our days.
Let us not seek the world, but your desires for us, to be rightous and clean.
May we never follow the ways of profit that only lead us into greed.
May the words that we speak be of your accord,
And those of us that are blind be brought before you O Lord.
Among a selfish society corrupted with so much doubt and shame,
You see those of us that stand prepared to lift your holy name.
No one can tell when our days will end, but with your word may we find the strength
To tell of your good word, and never accept defeat.
Watch over us Father, and forgive us for the sins that left our hearts so stained.
May you dry the tears from all the faces as we speak your holy name.
