WAKE UP!!!

I was thinking about our nation, and the road we're heading down one day during class and the words just seemed to flow, so I went wit hit for better or worse.

In our nation today negativity is all we tend to see.
We're spoonfed madness, hipocracy and mediocrity.
We're led like blinded lambs to be slaughtered;
People are willing to sell their souls for top dollar.
America used to stand for somethin'. What happened along the way?
They say we're Christian nation, but all this idolatry comes with a great price to pay.
I long for the days when we'll believe again and putting our faith in God
Rather than stepping on the meek and lowly just so we can carry the rod.
Fake prophets and politicians take over the t.v. screen
Selling false ideals for us to just vacantly believe.
The wolves of Wall Street step over the lowly and go along their way
While the poor do they best they can so their children can see better days.
We supposedly live in the "Bible Belt" yet we pass judgement, which is our shame
When we should be spreading the love of Christ instead of inflicting so much pain.
We're called to be family; bonded in unity, yet we always pass the blame.
We're taught to spread the word of God, yet our actions are all too tame.
It's time to step up for this generation of brothers and sisters in Christ.
It's time to light the way for a nation that's deep within pain and strife.
The truth is evident and inflicts us all, but we can choose to stand or lay down.
As for me I won't just lay down waiting for judgement to come around.
This is a call to action, not mere words, which won't lead that far.
The enemy is ever present and knows us for who we are.
We all are humans and have our faults, and yet we have lord that loves and forgives.
Despite our past he wants us to prosper; to love and spread the message is to truly live.
The choice is ours, to watch this nation tear one another apart,
Or stand united within one body to mend so many broken hearts.
The time draws near, and everyone will have to answer for the things they've done.
At the end of day can you say "life after this has only begun!"

"America used to stand for somethin'..." What exactly does that mean? It's said alot and yet it's meaning is clearly either not understood or misunderstood. I like what you have written here because it is thought-provoking. The things we hear that are being done because we are G-d fearing individuals are actually not G-d like at all. Suicide bombers killing the innocent for the sake of the lord, need we really question that? It seems that when we think we have it good, there is so much under-handedness taking place. Thank you for telling us to, "Wake Up!!!" I just wonder who exactly should wake up. Is it the Moral Majority or the Little Man? So much has taken place long before the evident change. I remember when The Dixie Chicks were just about castrated for delivering their opinion on a corrupt society. Today, it seems to be a bit more tolerable. Yes, I do believe G-d loves us and wants us to prosper...but this is really a man-made society - still the Me-Generation. Unfortunately, so many of us have become lost because our identities have been taken away from us. Thank you so much for sharing! May God truly bless America!
