Through the FireA Poem by Matt Stewart
I am a wanderer these days following the narrow road it seems.
I have faced many doubts; I couldn't see my way out, yet here I am still choosing to live a dream. Many I loved have come and gone, yet gave me the strength to carry on. I play this song for them; it soothes my soul just like a hymn, How I wish I could see them again. I'm thankful for the blessings I've witnessed in my life, They've kept me going when I was feeling tired. Once the smoke has cleared and this life has met it's end, Lord thank you for walking with me through the fire. I have dreamed of brighter days; days when we all will be at peace. We'll put all the hate behind and finally realize that unified is what we're meant to be. We were meant for so much more than this, and the chance for love I'd hate for us to miss. I may be chasing a dream, or so it seems, but I can't let a time pass such as this. I'm thankful for the blessings I've witnessed in my life, They've kept me going when I was feeling tired. Once the smoke has cleared and this life has met it's end, Lord thank you for walking with me through the fire. Now is the time to move on; I don't regret the road I'm on. Lessons learned have not come cheap, and wisdom now I choose to reap, And I'll share it all as I move along. I'm thankful for the blessings I've witnessed in my life, They've kept me going when I was feeling tired. Once the smoke has cleared and this life has met it's end, Lord thank you for walking with me through the fire. © 2012 Matt Stewart |
