The NightmareA Poem by LoNIf only one can be saved, how do you choose? And, still, there is no guarantee... A sad story from a grieving mind, of a fiery end at the side of a loved one.
The walls are stained with a mist, black as night
My mind says it's hopeless, but still I fight I hear their screams ringing in my head If they don't get out, they soon will be dead Shadows appear; two families I see Only one can be saved, the choice up to me The first - those I love - are only three By faith and love, they will be free The second I fear; they number to four Lost, like me, they must escape this horror I lead them quickly, urging them down the halls Until, at last, the strongest one falls "Go," she tells me. "You shouldn't die, too." "No," I reply. "I'm not leaving you." We move along, slowly, her on my back Until my world finally turns black As we lay dying, myself and the child The insanity returns, strong and wild A pattern on the ceiling, a twist of the knife Laughs, "Congratulations! You've cost her her life."
